All in all this bank holiday weekend was good. As it comes to a close I can say I had fun and enjoyed it.
With that said there is a dark shadow that has been hanging over me since last Thursday and will be about until next Monday.
If I could nail my feelings and keep myself in check I know I can beat this.
I have tried to ignore my feelings on this but just by typing this I know I’m not succeeding but I have the rest of this week to deal with it and seek closure. I need this win.
The audacity, the cheek. What in G-d’s name gives them the right to call it a self cleaning oven?.....and that’s just the door!
So I managed to watch ‘The Hobbit’ and the season’s end of ‘Dr. Who’ in the same day.
Dr. Who never disappoints and in November when it returns we will see John Hurt play a role, incidentally he happens to be a favourite of mine so I really cant wait for it’s return.
What to say about those Hobbits. It also didn’t disappoint but I never really thought this would have a sequel or possibly two given the The Lord of the Rings was in three parts. Still I was happy with what I saw and glad it clung closer to the book than the other.
Now I will need to remain patient.

Can't stand Dr. Who but thought The Hobbit was damned good.
I understood John Hurt was the new Dr. Who, but maybe I didn't hear that correctly?
We came 5th in a supper quiz last night (14 tables), but more importantly there were no chips with the fish as it was salad. If I knew I'd be on a health drive I'd have considered not going. I mean the cheek of it. I must say the coleslaw was divine and I only added a dab more mayo but the potato salad was wonderful too.
See I'm slowly inching towards Summer :-p
On Face Book my daughter has over 1600 friends and maybe about 40 of them are mutual. But really, 1600?!! What’s that all about. I don’t think I’ve connected with that many in my lifetime. And what are we really calling friends here. Is the definition of a FB friend different than a real friend? Maybe it's a contest and I'm missing the point!
When she first opened the account I did the ‘daddy’ thing and questioned and vetted her about who this one was and that one etc, I really did stay on top, but now I can’t keep up! I mean 1600…. gimme a break here.

Woah. o.O I clean out my list every once in a while. She must be a celebrity. :P
Teens like to get as many friends on their lists that they can, they do it on Myspace too, they don't know half of them.
It never ceases to amaze to see people with so many 'friends' as people seem to have on FB lol. Kids, like Pandy says collect names in an attempt to raise their popularity.. From that age group, I can understand that. But not adults!
I discussed this on fb, because I can never imagine how someone can really know more than 1,000 people, sadly my friends are adults and have more than 1,000 friends, just lol really?
Well, even though that's a lot of 'friends' you still have to keep on track with her...dad!
I must agree that the word 'friend' doesn't mean what it use to...
Holy wow. I cant even fathom a 100 lol...
I've been working from home this week and needed a new hole punch. I was pleased with my purchase as I got it cheap (not that they are expensive to start with) and like a kid I ripped open the little box and set it to work.
The bloody thing was only punching one hole. I need to take it back on Monday and if I have trouble you will here me scream at them from here.
How can a precision instrument not be tested?!!
So I have one last day (today) to play before it's back to the usual, which for me is nice as I'm happy with routine.
The weather is wonderful so it’s off to friends and a BBQ. A chance to relax will be planned as I know all the company that will attend and they are all good friends
.
My daughters’ birthday, although it’s actually today, she has been celebrating since Friday evening (she had a sleepover) and she says she’s had a great weekend. Today she will have her mums’ family visit which I know she will enjoy.
We had a great lunch yesterday and she loved her presents but rather than relax she was naturally anxious about her exams which are coming up soon. We chatted about that for a bit and I will be involved with her school towards the end of this week as there are things I am not totally sure about and my kids future will not be left to luck.
It seemed easier in my day with just two boards of education authority setting out the exams and marking you. How things change.
I had one number come up on the Lotto. I know what you’re thinking and I felt the same as I screwed the ticket up but ‘one number’ this really is an improvement on my recent run.
My daughters’ presents are wrapped and waiting for her. What got me was how sweet my new neighbours are as she now has five more cards to open and three extra wrapped gifts.
I’m ready for a good weekend. A little apprehensive maybe but that’s because there is a lot going on and timing will be imperative.
The one main thing is my daughter’s birthday on Monday. It has fallen on a bank holiday which means she will get three days of fun. I will only spend Sunday afternoon with her as her friends have a ‘surprise’ booked on Saturday and I am not being told what it is but as she will be 15 I guess a little trust must be exercised, both me and mum will be on standby in case we get a call even thou I have shed loads going on tomorrow. That said she will always come first. It all starts with a sleepover this evening with her friends and mum has arranged everything for them (just six girls).
The nice thing is she doesn’t want the cinema on Sunday nor to go bowling (which were both my suggestions, what she then said she wanted was to have a quiet lunch with just the two of us, this thrilled me but as other family members wanted to be involved I’ve told them that we will meet up later in the evening once I’ve taken her home. That’s Sunday. Saturday evening I’m out and catching up with my friends which has been long over due and I simply have to do this as It’s not easy getting our diaries in sync.
Then on Sunday she will go out with her mum and family on that side and I’m sure she will have a great time.
She will get a cash gift from me but I also want to buy and wrap a little something too but I have no clue to what. So tomorrow I will pop out in the morning and go mooching for something. Wish me luck as I have no clue as to what to buy for a 15 year old. Her perfumes and make up change regularly so it will have to be something novel and in a decent price range.

Have a wonderful weekend :)
How about an New Look gift token ... Being 15 and all, girls like that sorta fashion :). Hey, don't get greedy with the sun.. Send some over here! I had a wonderful time in London btw, with the exception of the hotel!
Go mooching? Who knew...mooching means shopping. I love to read your journal. :) New words and seeing all the love you have for your daughter. And so nice the neighbors gave her cards. You both are lucky to have each other.
Seriously thou, why, WHY would you argue with someone on here that you can remove from your LIFE with just a click of a button?
It really is that simple.

Some thrive on the drama here, nothing new. I would get tired of it myself. LOL
Of course, not all can jab the knife and verbally gut someone as I can. :)
HA!
*thinks of the, "NO IT'S NOT" statements and outwardly smiles in agreement*
Because sometimes it can be fun to make someone look stupid?
No, you are right. :)
Love this!
